One of my favorite things about California is its awesome landscape. In North Carolina, the coast is flat and sandy, and while the Carolina beaches will always be near and dear to my heart, the sometimes jagged/sandy/mountainous/rocky coastline of California is something else entirely. Here in Berkeley, just 10 minutes up in the hills behind our house, Tilden Regional Park is host to miles of hiking trails and bike paths overlooking the entire San Francisco Bay.
We’ve been up there a few times now to hike and bike, and each time we go I’m amazed that such a cool outdoor space is so close to where we live. One of the benefits of living on top of an active fault, I guess.
