We’d been meaning to make a trip up to Point Reyes National Seashore for a while, so when my parents came to town over Thanksgiving, we made a point to spend a day up there hiking in the hills and along the beach. Despite the 20 mph winds, the sunshine and the views made for an exceedingly pleasant hike up the coast.
The park has miles and miles of trails to explore, and we chose a path along the beach that eventually wound back through the grassy hills. We were too early in the season to spot the migrating gray whales (they usually pass by in mid-January), but there was still plenty to take in.
Just behind the dunes, a bunch of groups had set up camp for the weekend, making me wish we’d made plans to stay a couple of days. Next time, I guess.
