After a brief adventure in the Bay Area, we’ve decided to make our way home in a few weeks. At the end of the week, we’re moving out of our place in Berkeley and driving down to LA for a couple of days. From there, we’ll head south for Baja for a couple of weeks of sun, surf and cerveza before we begin the long drive home.
While I’m a little bummed that we couldn’t stay in California longer, we’ve really made the most of time we’ve had here, especially over the past couple of weeks.
Last week, we made our way down the coast to Big Sur, where we took in the views (despite some serious fog) and indulged in Nepenthe’s famed Ambrosia Burgers. It was nice to finally see what all the hype is about — even with the fog, the sites at Big Sur were truly breathtaking.
After lunch, we headed back up toward Monterey so I could stalk some seals and sea otters while we meandered down the coastal trail to check out Cannery Row and the Fisherman’s Wharf.
After hitting up some local surf shops and a tiki bar for some tropical beverages and dinner, we spent the night across from Del Monte Beach. Before heading back up to the East Bay the next day, we explored Lover’s Point in Pacific Grove and downtown Carmel.
All in all, a nice little adventure we’d been meaning to take since we got here. More to come later this week as we wrap up our time in the Bay Area.
