Music Festing, Napa Style

I spent the past few days up in the Napa Valley at the inaugural Bottle Rock music festival and I feel a bit like I’ve just returned from some sort of awesome NorCal utopia. The festival was everything I wanted it to be and more, with sets by favorites Best Coast, the Alabama Shakes, the Black Keys, Jackson Browne, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros (and a zillion other badass groups), plus  Napa wine and food, festival fashion, and a whole lotta sunshine. We posted up at the Silverado Resort, which has a serious Caddyshack vibe (in the loveliest of ways, I promise) and were able to spend some time exploring downtown Napa due to the excellent placement of the festival grounds.

All in all, a very successful first year for a festival that I hope becomes an annual tradition.

Weekend Details

Late-afternoon beach rosé (American Apparel tri-blend halter romper)

We traveled down to Bald Head Island this weekend, and I was surprised to find that it was nearly deserted with families having returned home and kids having gone back to school. I get a sort of nostalgic sadness in the last days of summer every year, and it hit me like a ton of bricks this weekend despite glorious weather and beaches nearly all to ourselves. Regardless, I still love the shore in these late days of August – can’t seem to shake it.

Pink stripes

Lani striped top, American Apparel tulip skirt, 80%20 Rina boots, Marc Jacobs shades, Marc by Marc Jacobs purse

I know that hardly a week goes by without me posting something having to do with stripes, but what can I say – I’m an addict. I got this top as a birthday gift and while my first inclination was to wear it untucked with denim cutoffs and flowy maxi skirts, I decided to mix it up a bit and pair it with a high-waisted mini. I have to say, though – the whole loose-vented-sleeves thing is way more effective in keeping cool when not tucked in, so I may be reverting soon.
